Stephen Kiazyk ~ Software Developer
I am a generalist software developer with over 15 years of experience.
I specialize primarily in video games/simulation/visual effects, but I have a wider range of experience that includes web development (both front and back-end), embedded systems/microcontrollers, and non-NLP machine learning.
I primarily work in C++, C#, and Python. I have also worked on projects using Javascript/Typescript, Java, Lua, and many other languages and frameworks.
Services
- Video Game Development: I have spent the last 8 years working as a general game developer, primarily in C++ and C#. I have extensive knowledge and experience with Unreal Engine, Unity, and Godot.
- Visual Effect/Artist Tools: I've created Maya, 3DStudio Max, and Blender plugins, and I have a knack for figuring out more obscure software APIs as well.
- Website Development: I am experienced with creating Django and Node.js backed websites.
I am fully authorized to work in Canada and the U.S. (I am a Canadian citizen, and U.S. Green Card holder).
About Me
I've been programming since I was 10 years old, and I love finding and solving new problems. I hold a Master's degree in Mathemetics from the Computer Science Department at the University of Waterloo, where I specialized in Computational Geometry. Though I have a strong background in theoretical CS, I am generally more interested in pragmatic than abstract problem solving.
I am also currently conference chair of PyBeach, a volunteer-run Los Angeles based Python conference, and am the lead organizer for SoCal Python, a Los Angeles-based Python usergroup.
Outside of software, I enjoy playing piano, visiting National Parks, and volunteering in my local community.
